No. 56 of the 15th September last, required from Dr. Young that he refund one half of the Salary drawn by him as Acting Colonial Surgeon from the date of Dr. Morrison's appointment to that office, I have received from that Gentleman a reply, of which copy is annexed.

Dr. Young's statement I have reason to believe is perfectly correct, and being satisfied that no properly qualified private practitioner could have been found to undertake the duties of the office for a remuneration as trifling as ninety Dollars
